Los Angeles Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James will sit out the rest of the season, the team announced on Saturday.
The Lakers have already been eliminated from the playoffs.
“After consulting with our team doctors and medical staff, we have decided to hold LeBron out of games for the remainder of the season. This decision will allow his groin to fully heal, and is best for the future success of both LeBron and the Lakers.”
The Lakers have six games remaining in the regular season.
In his first season in Los Angeles, LeBron James played in 55 games. The King averaged 27.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.3 assists per contest while shooting 51.0 percent from the field, 33.9 percent from beyond the arc and 66.5 percent from the free-throw line.
