The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly didn't feel superstar small forward LeBron James fully engaged with his younger teammates prior to the February trade deadline, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

James is 34-years-old and arguably the best player in the game. Meanwhile, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart are all in their 20s and have never played in the playoffs.

The Lakers reportedly made the entire roster except for LeBron available in the Anthony Davis trade talks with the New Orleans Pelicans.

One team source told ESPN that they didn't feel as though James fully engaged with the younger teammates prior to the trade deadline.

Of course, the age gap between James, 34, and players in their early 20s could have contributed to any perceived distance. In October, James said his 14- and 11-year-old sons, Bronny and Bryce, introduced him to a lot of the pop culture that his teammates listened to and watched.

Everyone who follows the NBA saw this coming when James signed with the Lakers last summer.

During the Big Three era with the Miami Heat, James played with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. In his second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron had Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.

This year with Los Angeles, James was basically playing with kids who haven't accomplished anything in the NBA. It's why so many pundits questioned his move to sign with the Purple and Gold in the first place.
