It's been over two months since Luka Doncic was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers, but it is still a major talking point in the sports world, and it will be for a long time. It is one of the craziest trades that has ever happened. The Mavericks had one of the best players in the world who led them to the NBA Finals last season, and GM Nico Harrison decided that it was a good idea to trade Doncic away. The NBA world was in shock, and that includes Doncic himself.
Luka Doncic was in his seventh season with the Mavericks, and it looked like he was going to be in Dallas for his entire career. He wanted to be there, and no one expected the team to want to get rid of one of the best players in the league. But then they did.
Doncic recently sat down with ESPN's Malika Andrews to talk about the night that the trade went down. He couldn't believe it.
“Well, I was actually in bed. My TV wasn't working so I was on the iPad watching a movie about to go to sleep,” Doncic told Andrews. “First thing I said, probably three times, is, ‘It's April 1st.' … I was still in shock, crazy shock. I felt like my heart was broken, honestly.”

Just like how the trade came out of nowhere for NBA fans, it came out of nowhere for Doncic as well. Many fans also thought that the trade was somehow a joke. Everyone was making sure that a fake account wasn't the one posting it. It was real, and Doncic made the move to LA.
Now that it's been a couple of months, Doncic has adjusted to his new team, and he is doing well with the Lakers. He also put up one of his most impressive performances ever in his return to Dallas as he dropped 45 points against his former team.
Luka Doncic and the Lakers are now getting ready for their playoff run as they finished in third place in the Western Conference. They will play their first postseason game on Saturday at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
