Los Angeles Lakers rookie point guard Lonzo Ball became the youngest ever in the NBA to record a triple-double last Saturday during a 98-90 win over the Milwaukee Bucks, but that performance didn’t change the fact that Ball’s shooting form and percentage are both ugly.

That being said, Lakers president of basketball operations in Magic Johnson is not keen on doing any repair job on Lonzo Ball’s seemingly broken jumper. In an appearance on the ESPN show, Mike and Mike, Johnson stressed that they’ll just allow Ball shoot the way he does.

“He’s been shooting that way his whole life, so what we wanted to do is just let him play his game, let him shoot the way he has been shooting and hopefully it will go in. We’re not gonna mess with it. We’re gonna let him play his game. If after the season he’s not shooting well, then we’ll sit down with him and say, ‘Hey, let’s maybe look at a different way’ or ‘Let’s try to improve the way you are shooting.'”

It’s hard to not take notice of Lonzo Ball’s shooting form. The Lakers point guard is making just 31.4 percent of his shots from the field and only 25 percent of his attempts from deep. Apart from the sagging confidence, the biggest culprit people have pointed to as the cause of Ball’s shooting slump is the rookie’s unconventional shooting mechanics.

Magic Johnson, however, could be right in not messing with Ball’s jumper. After all, Ball shot 55.1 percent from the field in college and his struggles could be something that can be addressed over time without changing his stroke.

But hey, isn’t there a saying that if it’s broken, then fix it?
