Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson just poured a bucket of ice-cold water on the highly-anticipated HBO series, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. While most folks are already looking forward to the upcoming drama series that portrays the events surrounding the Lakers dynasty of the 1980s, Magic revealed that he's not at all excited about it.
Despite the fact that the show is supposed to center around himself as one of the Lakers' superstars during that era, it turns out that Johnson isn't at all interested:
“I'm not looking forward to it. I'm going to leave it at that,” Magic said, via TMZ Sports.
HBO recently dropped the trailer for the upcoming show and it has gotten a lot of fans excited. John C. Reilly, Adrien Brody, and Sally Field headline the star-studded series.

It's quite odd that one of the most important figures of the Showtime Lakers era doesn't appear to approve of this upcoming show. This makes you wonder — is there something specific about the series that Magic Johnson doesn't like? Perhaps he doesn't completely agree with how he's portrayed in the show? Whatever the case may be, Johnson's negative comments here only add further intrigue for the much-awaited series.
For what it's worth, Magic did say that he's looking forward to a couple of other upcoming shows:
“No, we got different shows coming out,” Magic said. “I got one, then you got Jeanie Buss got one on Showtime coming out.”
“Those are the ones I'm looking forward to.”
Magic Johnson did not specify if his show is going to be about the Showtime Lakers as well, but if it is, then that would explain his lack of enthusiasm towards what is going to be a direct competitor.
