The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a tumultuous season where they failed to make the playoffs altogether and finished 16 games under .500. That's despite LeBron James averaging 30 points per game at the age of 37. Russell Westbrook struggled to fit in, while Anthony Davis literally couldn't stay healthy.
As the Lakers plan their offseason moves, rumors have started to swirl that LeBron could get traded if he doesn't sign an extension in August. Well, LA icon Magic Johnson has given his opinion on the matter: The Lakers would be foolish to part ways with The King.

James was a huge factor in signing Westbrook last summer and we know how that went. It's hard to imagine the Lakers trading Bron though, considering he's completely settled in LA and he's coming off a ridiculously productive season.
But, there is definitely the chance the Lakers superstar could leave after next season if he doesn't sign a new deal in the coming months. It will likely come down to how LA fares in 2022-2023 as they look to get back into postseason contention. First, the Lakers must find a new head coach to replace Frank Vogel. That's a huge step in turning the ship around.
