Los Angeles Lakers veteran point guard Rajon Rondo practiced with the team on Wednesday, per head coach Frank Vogel.

Rondo is expected to play in Game 1 of the Lakers' second-round series on Friday against the Houston Rockets or Oklahoma City Thunder, per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

Rajon Rondo hasn't played at Disney World yet. He suffered a thumb injury before the seeding games started and left the bubble to undergo surgery. Right when it looked like he was going to return against the Portland Trail Blazers, he suffered back spasms.

The Lakers defeated the Blazers in the first round sans Rondo. However, they could use the former All-Star guard in the second round versus Houston or OKC.

During the regular season, Rondo appeared in 48 games for the Lakers. He averaged 7.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists while shooting 41.8 percent from the field, 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and 65.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers are hoping “Playoff Rondo” will show up for them. The former Boston Celtics star has career postseason averages of 14.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 9.3 assists.

The last time we saw Rondo in the playoffs was in 2018 with the New Orleans Pelicans. He put up 10.3 points and 12.2 assists in nine games and led the postseason in assists. He also developed a strong rapport with Lakers star Anthony Davis in the pick-and-roll game, so Los Angeles is hoping that dynamic will be back soon.
