Skip Bayless is one of LeBron James' biggest critics, so when the Los Angeles Lakers icon broke Karl Malone's record to become the second-leading scorer of all time, the expectations were that he would find a way to criticize him. After all, it wouldn't be the first time the FOX Sports commentator would be doing so.
In a shocking twist, though, Skip sent a congratulatory message to King James. The veteran commentator acknowledged the longevity of the Lakers superstar as he plays his 19th year in the NBA, though he seemingly ignored LeBron's scoring prowess:
Congratulations to LeBron Raymone James Sr. for passing Karl Malone on the all-time scoring list. Great 19-year longevity achievement.

Is this Skip Bayless saying that LeBron James only broke Karl Malone's scoring feat because he has been playing for so long? Well, that may not be the case since Skip is probably aware that Malone also played 19 seasons in the NBA, while the leading all-time scorer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had 20 years in the NBA under his belt.
But, still, it's hard not to blame those for thinking along those lines given how harsh Bayless has been to the Lakers leader. It seems the commentator just pounces on every opportunity to slam James and compare him with the other greats — mostly in negative light.
It's truly a bit out of character for Bayless to praise LeBron. But, hey, it might just be the sports fan in him appreciating greatness after he sees one.
