The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to improve after an immensely disappointing campaign that saw them miss the playoffs with a star-studded roster. Unfortunately for Russell Westbrook, one of the poster boys of the underachieving Lakers, he is part of the team's offseason plan to improve, but not the way he would like. According to the latest Lakers rumors from ESPN's Jonathan Givony, Los Angeles offered a Westbrook trade to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for guard Malcolm Brogdon.
The Los Angeles Lakers offered Russell Westbrook, Talen Horton-Tucker and a 2026 first-round draft pick to the Indiana Pacers for Malcolm Brogdon, ESPN's Jonathan Givony reported on The Lowe Post podcast.
Per the rumors, the Lakers offered Westbrook, Talen Horton-Tucker and a 2026 first-round pick to the Pacers for Brogdon. Indiana rejected the offer.

The Pacers, who are looking to retool, have budding star Tyrese Haliburton as their starting point guard. Westbrook's age, 33 and contract, $47.1 million player option, don't fit into Indiana's timeline- or depth chart.

It's unfortunate for the Lakers, as Brogdon would have been a more suitable fit then Westbrook alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
The Pacers guard has taken a big step forward in the last two seasons, averaging 20.4 points, 5.9 assists, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.2 three-pointers made per game on 36.6 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
He has also shown an ability to excel off the ball, something Westbrook struggled with in his first season in Los Angeles- and in his career.
If the Lakers are serious about moving Westbrook, they'll have to go back to the drawing board.
