After averaging 9.9 points and 2.8 rebounds last season for head coach Tom Thibodeau, the Timberwolves made significant changes to their roster with the additions of Jimmy Butler, Jeff Teague, Taj Gibson, and Jamal Crawford. While teammates have been recruiting Muhammad, it appears he is looking elsewhere.

For the Lakers, it is unclear who Brandon Ingram's backup will be for the 2017-18 NBA season with Luol Deng and Corey Brewer likely battling for minutes in head coach Luke Walton's rotation. With an opportunity to play minutes, Muhammad could be returning to Los Angeles after his lone season at UCLA.
