The Los Angeles Lakers fell far below the public's expectations this season. What was seemingly a star-studded team went 33-49 and finished 11 in the Western Conference. The 2022 NBA Playoffs are well underway. With the Lakers not a part of the postseason action, they are looking ahead to the upcoming year.
Clearly, a lot of adjustments have to be made this offseason, with big changes likely coming to the Lakers' coaching staff. However, one of the most important changes is rebuilding the roster.
According to HoopsHype, the Lakers are most likely going to attempt a package trade this offseason.
The trade is rumored to include, “Talen Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn, and multiple first-round picks,” per HoopsHype's Michael Scotto. He also said that “that’s the only way for them to try to improve the team” outside of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Scotto also mentioned the idea of consolidating Russell Westbrook's contract “into multiple pieces.”
Yossi Gozlan of HoopsHype said that it's in the Lakers' best interest to “trade Westbrook without attaching a pick and get several role players to fill out the roster.” After that, they could try to “package Horton-Tucker and Nunn for something else…Maybe they attach a pick there and see what they can get. Gozlan predicted that Los Angeles could get roughly $20 million for each player.
Regardless of what trade package the Lakers come up with, they have a lot of work to do this offseason.
