The Los Angeles Lakers have cleared enough space for another max contract to offer in free agency, and one of the best fits could be in the same state.
According to Fox Sports 1's Chris Broussard, “If I were running the Lakers, I think the player that fits with LeBron and AD better than any player on the planet, better than any star out there, is Klay Thompson. … Klay would be perfect with AD and LeBron.”

Thompson went down with a torn ACL in the 2019 NBA Finals, most likely sidelining him for the entire 2019-2020 NBA season.
While it is unknown if the Lakers would be willing to sign an injured player — more matter the stardom — with Lebron James' superstar performance, Thompson brings elite shooting to the Lakers.

Thompson is a 42% three-point shooter in his career and has consistently averaged over 20 points per game since 2014.
But Golden State is reportedly expected to offer Thompson a max contract to stay with the team.
Thompson missed the opportunity to earn a supermax contract after not making an All-NBA team, a potential reason for him leaving Golden State.
Signing Thompson would more than likely put the Lakers in title contention once the 2020-2021 season comes around. Other free agents rumored to the Lakers include Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler, and Kyrie Irving.
