The Los Angeles Lakers caught the biggest fish this summer, when they signed LeBron James to a four-year, $153 million deal. And by doing so, the Lakers have increased their chances not only of making it to the playoffs for the first time since 2013, but also of making it all the way into the NBA Finals.

Despite all the positives that LeBron brings to the table, Lakers fans, particularly Kobe Bryant diehards, are not taking the arrival of The King at Hollywood well. Some have even resorted to sullying murals of LeBron James to express their apparent rejection of the idea that the Lakers is now under the leadership of LeBron James.

Lakers owner Jeanie Buss has already spoken against those who have vandalized the street artworks inspired by James. In seconding what Buss said, former NBA player Jay Williams blasted Kobe Bryant fans and called them “simple-minded” for attacking the murals during a recent appearance on The Jim Rome Show.

“I think Kobe fans are a little bit simple-minded at times, and it’s easy to look at the scenario that Kobe was the greatest of all time. That is fine if that is what you believe. But LeBron has never said that he’s better than Kobe or that he is the bigger king in L.A. than Kobe. That is the media. So, I don’t understand how fans can take things what the media say and spin that individually towards LeBron.”

No matter how much Kobe Bryant fanboys hate LeBron James, the fact remains that the three-time champion will be wearing the Purple and Gold, starting next season. They just have to get used to it.
