When Kobe Bryant announced his retirement during the 2015-16 NBA season, he showcased his storytelling abilities by writing ‘Dear Basketball' on The Players' Tribune. Since then, it has turned into a short film as Bryant is currently building Kobe Inc. and investing in other companies.

During the John Williams: Maestro of the Movies at Hollywood Bowl, the five-time champion surprised fans by performing his animated short according to Vincent Sung of ClutchPoints:

As Bryant has not made too many public appearances since his 60-point game against the Utah Jazz, it is always a treat when one of the city's legends surprises fans. While the 18-time All-Star is focused on his projects, he is still involved with the game of basketball as numerous players have asked him for advice or worked out with him.

For the Lakers, they officially enter a new era with President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka. With Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball leading the way, Los Angeles is looking to surprise basketball fans for the 2017-18 NBA season in hopes of signing two max contract players like LeBron James and Paul George in next year's free agency.

Bryant averaged 25.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in 20 seasons.
