Heading into the NBA Awards show presented by TNT on Monday night, Los Angeles Lakers forward Larry Nance Jr. was nominated for the dunk of the year.
However, it was revealed that he came up short for the honor as Oklahoma City Thunder guard Victor Oladipo won the award for his dunk over center Dwight Howard that was in many ways reminiscent of Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins double-clutch jam during his heyday. All of this made for a hilarious response from Nance Jr. about not winning the award.

It's was a creative play on words by Nance Jr. to interpret his reaction as being a little upset about not winning the first-ever dunk of the year award presented by TNT.

That said, just because the dunk didn't win the honor, it was still an incredible play that saw Nance Jr. take off from outside the restricted area for a one-handed dunk on former Brooklyn Nets center and now current teammate Brook Lopez. It is an even more eye-popping play when it played back in slow motion.

Through his couple of seasons in the league, Nance Jr. has thrown down some memorable dunks that displaying his unique athletic ability that he inherited from his father Larry Nance Sr., who is a former NBA dunk champion.
Although Nance Jr. lost this year, he has a chance to make another highlight-worthy play next season that could bring him back into contention for the award.
