Top draft prospect Lonzo Ball is scheduled to work out with the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, with both camps pinning their hopes on a productive affair. With less than three weeks to go before the lottery, the Lakers will have a close look at the popular choice for the second overall pick.

However, Luke Walton confirmed, via the Jim Rome Show, that the 19-year-old’s father, LaVar Ball, will not be allowed at the practice facility during the session. He then revealed that they did invite him for the pre-workout dinner, and even joked that he could be very entertaining while they’re having the meal.

“Absolutely. If he wanted to come to the dinner. I think the workout is something that we’ll keep the doors closed on, but the dinner, I think he would definitely make the dinner more entertaining. He’s definitely welcomed to join us for that one.”

The older Ball has been a controversial subject and a favorite of social media trolling over the couple of months for the absurd comments he’s been making. That being said, the Lakers want to have a business-like approach to Lonzo’s workout and do not want any distractions while it happens.

After his lone season with the UCLA Bruins, Lonzo Ball emerged as one of the best players in a deep pool of prospects this year. His dream of playing for his hometown team could come into fruition if he pleases the trained eyes of the Lakers' scouts and coaches.
