Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James made this Staples Center debut Tuesday night and the atmosphere was electric. The best player in basketball is now in the biggest media market, so the hype surrounding the Lakers this season is going to be substantial.

When James was introduced in the starting lineup, the Staples Center crowd roared. It hasn't been that loud in the gym since Kobe Bryant's last game as a Laker back in 2016. Needless to say, James and the rest of his Laker teammates appreciated the fan turnout.

“The turnout was great,” James said, via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. “And the atmosphere was amazing. Definitely appreciated by all of us in here that they came out to a preseason game like this. And we just tried to give them a good show, which we did, all the way down to the last possession.”

James played 15 minutes and scored 13 points. He shot 5-of-6 from the floor and racked up three assists, three rebounds, two steals, one block and four turnovers. The highlight of the night was a monster coast-to-coast dunk by James in transition, a play Laker fans are going to see on a nightly basis this season.

The Lakers lost to the Denver Nuggets by a final score of 113-111, dropping their preseason record to 0-2. But James drew plenty of oohh's and aahh's from the crowd and the team played with a lot of pace. Both James and point guard Rajon Rondo were pushing the basketball, even off made baskets by the Nuggets. The Lakers are going to be fun to watch this season, something we haven't said in a very long time.
