Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was asked about the formation of a new super team in the Los Angeles Lakers. Interestingly, the Mavs boss answered with a rather amusing response.

Cuban, who has been the Mavs owner since 2000, is probably referring to the Lakers team with Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Gary Payton and Karl Malone.

It was one of the best teams ever assembled — at least on paper. Payton and Malone were already legends in the game at that point and were hungry than ever for their first title. Bryant and O'Neal, meanwhile, already had a three-peat to their name. Though things weren't going too well for them during that time, no one ever underestimated their capabilities.

But as luck would have it, that Lakers' super team was ousted by the Detroit Pistons team comprised of Chauncey Billups, Ben Wallace, Rip Hamilton, Rasheed Wallace and Tayshaun Prince. It was tagged as one of the biggest upsets in sports.

No one knows for sure how things will end up in Los Angeles with James and Davis at the helm. However, Cuban knows how too much star power can be detrimental to a team. He seems to be gripping on to that presumption and the reality he observed with the Lakers.
