It isn't very often that a star player comments about players on another team. That is exactly what Golden State Warriors star shooting guard Klay Thompson decided to do Tuesday.
Anthony Slater of The Athletic shared the comments that Thompson made about the Los Angeles Lakers' young talent. He said he expects the Lakers' youngsters to take a big step forward during the 2018-19 NBA season.
Klay Thompson on the Lakers: "I think their young guys will make a huge leap. Expect them to be in playoff contention. Championship contention, I'm not sure. It takes…you gotta wait and see for that. Takes a lot of work."

Thompson's comments are mostly in line with what most fans and media members expect to see from the Lakers. They are going to take a huge step forward, especially with LeBron James leading the way and being a mentor for the young players, but championship contention may be a year or two down the road.
Article Continues BelowLos Angeles has surrounded James with a ton of potential. Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, and Josh Hart all have potential to work their way into being very good players. Ball and Ingram, especially, have star potential oozing out of them.
The Warriors are once again expected to win the NBA Finals this season. There will be some contention from teams like the Houston Rockets and Boston Celtics, but the Warriors improved even more this offseason by signing All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins to a one-year contract.
Over the next few years, it is going to be very entertaining to watch the Lakers and Warriors battle. James, along with the young talent that the Lakers have, are going to continue improving to the point where they can be a major test for Golden State.
Expect to see the Lakers take a big step forward this season. Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, and Hart are going to have major roles and will fill them well and prove Thompson right.
