Luka Doncic is one of the big prizes that lottery-bound teams will be hoping to land this summer. The 19-year-old Slovenian is the consensus best NBA prospect in Europe at the moment and has the potential to go as high as No. 1 overall in the upcoming draft.

But in a recent interview with international hoops magazine Super EuroLeague, it turns out that Doncic is still not ready to commit himself to the 2018 draft just yet.

“No, I can’t say that. Let’s see how this season will go. No one ever knows what the future holds.”

Luka Doncic is currently having another strong season for Real Madrid, averaging 16.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. Despite his young age, he has taken on the role as the Spanish club’s leader in the absence of reigning EuroLeague MVP Sergio Llull.

Doncic is proving with those performances that he’s more than ready to take the next step and play in the NBA. But the draft is still a long time away and it's totally understandable for him to keep his options open.

There are still a handful of other top prospects that should be available if Luka Doncic does decide to wait another year before declaring for the draft. However, it would still be a big disappointment to the lottery-bound teams who will get to miss out on the opportunity of landing what could be the next big European superstar.
