There appeared to be mutual interest for a Vince Carter return to the Orlando Magic. Carter, a Florida native, played for the Magic for almost two full seasons from 2009 to 2011. This past offseason, the Magic reportedly had a lot of interest in bringing back the hometown boy to the team. After the Kings' 105-99 victory over Orlando, Carter spoke about a potential return to the team this past offseason.

According to a report by Josh Robbins from Orlando Sentinel, Carter said that, while he was open to discussing a comeback to Orlando, he did not hold any direct conversations with their front office:

“Yeah, I would have definitely considered it. I mean, I live here. I’m from this area. I played here before. So it would have been great to be here. That’s just who I am. I enjoy helping guys. It doesn’t matter [who they are]. I had a brief conversation with a couple of the young guys over there, and I just like to see guys come into this league and have great careers.”

While Carter did not hold a direct interaction with the team, his agent did some work with the front office:

“And that [offseason discussion with the Magic] was a conversation, obviously, between their management and my agent more so than with me. But that would’ve been cool. It would’ve been cool, of course, to come back here and play in front of my home fans.”

Vinsanity's deal with the Kings expires after this season, so it may not be too late for a comeback if he decides to play in the 2018-19 season, which would be his 21st in the league.
