With the Global Mixed Gender Basketball league starting in a couple of weeks, it has been gaining steam of late, especially with the announcement of its teams' lineups, which includes some stars of the NBA and WNBA before.

One of the most excited members of the league for its inaugural season is New Orleans Gators owner Master P. The rapper and record producer recently signed Metta World Peace and Glen Davis to play for them, and also named WNBA Hall of Famer Lisa Leslie as the head coach. However, what caught the attention of many was when he made a bold claim, via TMZ, wherein he said that he feels some squads from the GMGB could beat an NBA team.

“I feel we could beat a couple NBA teams,” Master P explains. “You guys gotta see how good we is and how fast-paced.”

Although he did not drop team names, it was still a strong statement from Master P, knowing that the best players in the world compete in the NBA, and that GMGB’s teams are made up of former pros, and even retired players. However, it also shows how much belief he has with them and the first ever co-ed league.

The action tips-off on September 23 in Las Vegas, where the No Limit CEO’s Gators will face off against the Atlanta Heirs. His team may have World Peace, Davis and Stromile Swift leading the charge, but their opponents also have a formidable lineup led by WNBA star Angel Lajuane McCoughtry. It also does not help their cause that the Heirs are coached by NBA legend Dominique Wilkins, who is expected to share a lot of knowledge to his players, which will make the first day of the GMGB even more exciting.
