The Memphis Grizzlies interviewed Utah Jazz assistant Alex Jensen on Tuesday for the team's vacant head-coaching position, according to Tony Jones and Omari Sankofa II of The Athletic.
Jensen is also a candidate for the Cleveland Cavaliers opening at head coach, and will reportedly interview with the wine and gold this week. The Athletic previously reported that he interviewed to be the head coach at Brigham Young University in early April.
A highly-valued player development specialist who's been credited with fostering the growth of Utah star Rudy Gobert, Jensen has been with the Jazz since 2013 after cutting his teeth in the G-League. He was head coach of the Canton Charge in 2011-12 and 2012-13, leading the Cavaliers' affiliate to a 57-43 overall record and winning G-League Coach of the year in 2013.

He was named the team's interim head coach in November 2017 following the ouster of David Fizdale, and was retained on a full-time basis at the conclusion of the 2017-18 season. Memphis, playing without star point guard Mike Conley for the majority of Bickerstaff's first season on the job, went a dismal 15-48 after he took over for Fizdale. The Grizzlies got off to a surprisingly strong start this season at 15-9, but were again bit by the injury bug across the roster, finishing with a 33-49 record after trading franchise stalwart Marc Gasol to the Toronto Raptors at the trade deadline.
Memphis has already undergone a massive front office overhaul since the regular season ended, including the reassignment of long-time head honcho Chris Wallace to the scouting department and promotion of Jason Wexler to president of basketball operations.
