Kanye West is no stranger to being part of a lot of headlines for his unique and even controversial ways. From his music career, business ventures, and personal life, it has been much talked about, as he is one of the most famous celebrities in the world today.

Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley recently shared a story where the Grammy Award-winning artist apparently called him past midnight to profess his admiration for him. He added that West told him he does not agree that he is underrated, as he thinks he is very good.

“He said ‘I admire you. I really like what you do. I hate that you’re underrated,'” Conley said during the Grizzlies Media Day Monday. The call from the rapper/producer came after midnight, he said.

“He’s going through all of these things like he really watches me play,” Conley said with laughter. “He was like ‘You can be up here and they don’t see you like that.’

“I was like ‘I’m 100 percent with you. What can we do? Help me. I’m looking for a feature. Put me in the background of some of music or something like that.’”

Despite signing a very lucrative deal last summer, Conley remains one of the most underrated players in all of the NBA. His numbers have remained very consistent over the past years, as he continues to be effective without much flare and is thought of by many as a consummate professional.

The call West gave him obviously surprised Conley, but it also goes to show how humble he is as he didn't even believe it at first that someone with the rap artist's stature is a fan of him. It will be very interesting to find out if they will indeed get together soon and if West's call will start a friendship between the two.
