Former Memphis Grizzlies point guard Nick Calathes is planning on making his return to the NBA after having success the last few years overseas.

He has torn up the Euroleague, especially this season, and is a candidate for their MVP award. Nick Calathes is expected to draw a lot of interest around the NBA and will probably get a nice contract.

He has played for Panathinaikos in Greece this year, averaging 14.5 points, eight assists and four rebounds per game. He also has shot an impressive 55.7 percent from the field.

He played two years in the NBA with the Grizzlies, playing decent minutes off the bench and proving to be a good role player. In his rookie season in 2013, he played in 71 games, starting seven of them, averaging 4.9 points and 2.9 assists per game.

After his second season in the NBA, the guard decided to head overseas and look for a better contract. He has dual citizenship between the United States and Greece which allowed him to sign for a higher wage.

According to Jake Fitzgibbon of HoopBall, Nick Calathes has interest in playing for the Sacramento Kings.

“I would like to return to the NBA and work again with Dave Joerger, the coach I had in Memphis who is now on the bench of the Sacramento Kings. The Kings’ interest honors me, and I want to thank them for that.”

It will be interesting to see where he ends up, but whoever is getting him will probably get a good role player for next year.
