The Miami Heat's inaugural season was in 1988. The team struggled as most expansion clubs do, winning only 15 games in Year 1 and 18 in Year 2.
Over time, though, the Heat have become one of the hallmark organizations of the NBA. The franchise has three championships and some of the best players in league history have suited up for the South Beach club.
For this piece, we'll be taking a look at every trade deadline move the Heat have made since joining the NBA circuit in 1988.
1995-96
The Heat traded Bimbo Coles and Kevin Willis to the Golden State Warriors for Chris Gatling and Tim Hardaway.
Miami also sent Kevin Gamble and Billy Owens to the Sacramento Kings for Tyrone Corbin and Walt Williams.
The Heat finished its busy '96 trade deadline by dealing Terrence Rencher to the Phoenix Suns for Tony Smith.
1996-97
Miami traded Sasha Danilović, Martin Müürsepp and Kurt Thomas to the Dallas Mavericks for Jamal Mashburn.
1997-98
The Heat dealt Isaac Austin, Charles Smith and a 1998 first-round pick to the Los Angeles Clippers for Brent Barry.
2004-05
Miami sent Malik Allen to the Charlotte Bobcats for Steve Smith.
2005-06
The Heat traded Gerald Fitch to the Houston Rockets for Derek Anderson. Houston also received a trade exception from Miami, who won the 2006 Finals over the Dallas Mavericks.
2007-08
Miami sent Shaquille O'Neal to the Phoenix Suns for Marcus Banks and Shawn Marion.
2008-09
The Heat sent Marcus Banks, Shawn Marion and cash to the Toronto Raptors for Jamario Moon, Jermaine O'Neal, a 2010 second-round pick and a 2011 first-round pick.

2012-13
The Heat traded Dexter Pittman, cash and a 2013 second-round pick to the Memphis Grizzlies for Ricky Sánchez.
2013-14
Miami dealt Roger Mason and cash to the Sacramento Kings for a 2015 second-round pick.
2014-15
The Heat sent Danny Granger, a 2017 first-round pick and a 2021 first-round pick to the Phoenix Suns for Goran Dragić and Zoran Dragić.
Miami also dealt Norris Cole, Justin Hamilton and Shawne Williams to the New Orleans Pelicans.
2015-16
The Heat traded Chris Anderson, a 2018 second-round pick and a 2019 second-round pick to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Miami also acquired Brian Roberts from the Charlotte Hornets but wound up trading him to the Portland Trail Blazers for cash considerations.
The Heat finished the 2016 deadline by trading Jarnell Stokes and $700,000 to the New Orleans Pelicans for a 2018 second-round pick.
2017-18
Miami sent Okaro White to the Atlanta Hawks for Luke Babbitt.
The Heat also acquired franchise icon Dwyane Wade from the Cleveland Cavaliers for a 2024 second-round pick.
2018-19
Miami dealt Wayne Ellington, Tyler Johnson and cash to the Phoenix Suns for Ryan Anderson.
2019-20
The Heat traded James Johnson to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Dion Waiters and Justise Winslow to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Miami acquired Jae Crowder, Solomon Hill and Andre Iguodala from the Grizzlies.
