Three-time NBA champion Andre Iguodala made his highly anticipated debut for the Miami Heat on Sunday.

The 36-year-old logged a productive 23 minutes in his first game in a Heat uniform following a trade from the Memphis Grizzlies. Miami fell to the Portland Trail Blazers, 115-109, but it was indeed a promising debut for Iguodala, who finished with two points (on 1-of-2 shooting), six rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block.

Iguodala spoke to the media following his debut, describing what it was like to tale the court again after an extended layoff:

“The last time I played 5-on-5 was the Finals,” he said, via the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “Just trying to get a feel for where my wind was, but I felt really good out there.”

Iguodala actually looked in pretty good shape and did not appear like he was out of action for nearly eight months. The 16th-year man looked sharp and made an instant impact as soon as he checked in the ballgame.

The former All-Star then went on to share what type of preparations he had to undertake in order to get himself ready for Sunday night:

“I watched a lot of film,” he said. “I don't know if I've ever watched that much film for a regular season game. Just trying to figure out where the guys are going to be.”

Iguodala has not had a chance to fully acclimatize himself with his new team, having only arrived in Miami a few days ago. Based on his debut, though, it would not be surprising if he is able to seamlessly integrate himself into the Heat's system sooner rather than later.
