Kyle Guy has been playing with the Cleveland Charge of the NBA's G-League this season, with a few games with the big club (Cleveland Cavaliers) mixed in between. This is his first stop since he started his career with two years and 34 games played for the Sacramento Kings in 2019 and 2020.
He will now get a chance with a third NBA team, as Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported on Tuesday night that the Miami Heat were signing Guy to a ten-day hardship contract.

Hardship contacts have been needed all around the NBA this season as teams have been devastated by COVID-19 even more than in 2020 when most people in the world were not vaccinated against the virus. Now, with more people vaccinated and even having a booster shot, the deadly pandemic has turned its eyes on the NBA once again.
The league recently relaxed the quarantine rules for COVID-positive players, following the recommendation of the CDC and that should allow for teams to keep their main core of players on the court for the majority of the games. There will still be a need for players like Guy, however, as we will most likely not be done dealing with this virus for a while. So, for now, Jimmy Butler had better get to know his newest Heat teammate.
Guy has averaged 2.7 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in seven minutes per game in his limited time with the Cavs and will likely not be counted on for much more than that on that with the Heat, even with all of the COVID issues. This is a team that is run by Butler and Eric Spoelstra, so Guy will have to earn his minutes on the court, they will not be given.
