Forward Jordan Mickey is taking his talents from South Beach to Moscow. According to Keith Smith of Real GM, Mickey has inked a deal with Russian ball club BC Khimki of the VTB United League.

Former Boston Celtics big man Jordan Mickey has signed with Khimki in Russia. Mickey played last season with the Miami Heat.

Mickey is an undersized 6-foot-8 big man, but what he lacks in size, he can make up for with athleticism. It’s among the qualities Khimki head coach Georgios Bartzokas liked about Mickey, whose agility should further standout in a league filled with unathletic big men.  Bartzokas also liked Mickey’s attitude towards the game and the people around him on the team, per Ira Winderman of the Miami Herald.

“Jordan is a player who fits to our system,” coach Georgios Bartzokas said. “He is a very versatile and athletic guy, who can do a lot of things on the court. At the same time, he is a great person as we had a talk with his ex-coaches, teammates and everybody said the best about him.”

Prior to signing with Khimki, Jordan Mickey became an NBA free agent when the Miami Heat declined to offer him a qualifying offer. He appeared in only 23 games last season for the Heat and averaged 4.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks in 7.5 minutes per contest.

The 24-year-old's deal with Khimki is only for one year, so he still will have a chance to get back to the NBA in the near future.
