Miami Heat All-Star big man Bam Adebayo was one of the biggest revelations of the Disney World bubble. The 23-year-old emerged as a superstar-caliber player for the Heat, and as Adebayo enters the final year of his current contract, it comes to no surprise that rival teams are inquiring about his availability.

According to Zach Harper of The Athletic, however, the Heat front office are not exactly open to taking calls of this nature:

Adebayo is pretty much off the board. A league source tells The Athletic that the Heat “would hang the phone up with F-bombs ringing through the disconnected call” if someone demanded Adebayo in a deal.

Well I guess that's that. Clearly, Miami have no intention of trading away a player they consider to be a key cog for the future of the franchise. So much so, that anyone who dares to even question their position better be ready for an NSFW tirade.

It is worth noting, however, that the Heat are in a bit of a precarious situation with Adebayo. The 6-foot-9 big man has already proven that he deserves a max extension, but at this point, Miami might be more inclined to wait another year before they table a big-money deal for him. The Heat are looking to clear up as much cap room for the free agency class of 2021 (read: Giannis Antetokounmpo), and delaying Adebayo's extension by a year will certainly help them in this regard.

By doing so, however, they will also run the risk of letting Adebayo walk as a free agent next summer. What they do in the coming weeks will be a clear indication of how Pat Riley and the rest of the front office intend to manage this situation.
