As people a number of witness societal issues these days, the Miami Heat is looking to make things right.

The problems that hound the community do not only revolve on racial issues, but also on gender. Back in June, a horrific incident occurred at a night-club in Orlando, Florida wherein the victims were mostly members of the LGBT community.

On October 22, the Heat will be holding an event titled “Loud & Proud” and it will cater to this sector of society in hopes of easing whatever tension or discrimination its members are experiencing.

Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel provides more details on the event.

The Miami Heat announced Tuesday the team will host “Heat Loud & Proud” on Oct. 22, an event celebrating diversity and the LGBTQ community.

The event will take place at AmericanAirlines Arena's East Plaza overlooking Biscayne Bay.
The event is free and open to the public but guests must RSVP for tickets at Heat.com/LoudandProud and must be 18 or older for admission.

Donations, according to the team, are welcome but not mandatory. Doors will open at 8 p.m. During the event, the Heat will make a donation to Pridelines, Miami's LGBTQ Community Center and South Florida's oldest LGBTQ services agency.

Some time ago, the NBA pulled out its All-Star game from Charlotte due to the State of North Carolina's gender discriminating bill.
