After seeing his last two seasons cut short due to career-threatening blood clot scares in his leg and lungs, Chris Bosh is expecting his team, the Miami Heat, to ultimately decide whether or not he is cleared to play this coming season, sooner rather than later.
With less than three weeks before the start of training camp, news have been surfacing that the Heat will be making their decision soon. Now, more speculations are being reported about the 32-year-old's status, with the latest one from The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson. According to him, there is ” growing optimism” that Bosh will be allowed to play on blood thinners.
Last season, a stand off between the Georgia Tech product and the Heat drew a lot of chatter as both parties were not able to come up with a resolution. During the playoffs, it can be recalled that the eleven-time All-Star even raised his concern with the NBPA as he was not allowed by his team to suit up and compete against the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference Semis that time.
Bosh's camp has proposed that he'll be taking medications that will be cleared from his system after eight hours. The Heat did not like the idea at first but now is already looking into it and finding other options as well.
Article Continues BelowWith the loss of former franchise player Dwyane Wade to free agency, the return of the former fourth overall pick of the 2003 draft will be more important than ever. He is expected to lead the new-look Heat squad and be the locker room leader to mentor the young guns on the roster.
Bosh is a two-time NBA champion, being part of the team's “Big Three” era with Wade and LeBron James. They won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013. He may be the third option that time, but the transformation he made in his game was very valuable and it allowed the franchise to achieve the success they had those years.
There are still a lot of questions surrounding his future in the NBA, even if he gets cleared, he may not be able to play on back-to-back sets and may miss some games throughout the season.
But even with all the uncertainties, just to see Chris Bosh back playing in the highest-level is already a huge achievement for him. The South Beach faithful are hoping they get to see the player they were accustomed to seeing the past seasons, hitting threes and rebounding the ball well night in and night out.
