Milwaukee Bucks senior vice president Alex Lasry will be running for Wisconsin's U.S. Senate seat in 2022, and it like he already has the full support of superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Greek Freak re-tweeted Lasry's announcement on Wednesday and shared his excitement for the Bucks executive's venture to politics.

Alex Lasry, 33, will be representing the Democratic Party in a bid to replace incumbent GOP Senator Ron Johnson.

“We need a new way of thinking and a new perspective,” Lasry said in a YouTube video to jumpstart his campaign. “We’ve lived through three systemic shocks to the system over the last 20 years: 9/11, the Great Recession and now, this pandemic. And we still haven’t fixed things.”

The son of a hedge-fund billionaire and Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry, Alex has been working behind the scenes for the Bucks since his father purchased co-ownership of the franchise in 2014. He will reportedly take a leave of absence for the team during his campaign bid. It remains unclear at the moment who his replacement will be.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, meanwhile, has certainly gotten close to his employers since he signed that record-breaking $228 million extension to stay in Milwaukee for the next five years. The two-time NBA MVP's endorsement alone should help Lasry get the popular vote among Wisconsin voters.

But instead of worrying about his boss's political aspirations right now, Antetokounmpo might need to set his sights on the Bucks' ugly four-game losing skid. They still hold third place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 16-12 slate, but things aren't exactly looking good for them at the moment.
