Milwaukee Bucks executive Alex Lasry, son of team governor Marc Lasry, has apparently received the COVID-19 vaccine.
Lasry tweeted Friday he was vaccinated after his wife, Lauren, got a call from her uncle notifying her of extra vaccine doses that would otherwise go to waste if not used immediately. He explained his wife's pregnancy was a motivating factor.
This week I was vaccinated! My wife got a call from her uncle that works in a facility that had extra doses that were going to go to waste if not used right away. With Lauren early in her pregnancy, we wanted to ensure our home, and entire community is safe for everyone. pic.twitter.com/bctLVytyu6

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has encouraged state health officials to use all doses at their disposal. However, the vaccine is meant to be reserved for Wisconsin residents 65 or older.

âThat has nothing to do with anything,â Lasry said, via ABC News. âHonestly, if I wasnât married to Lauren, I donât know that I would have gotten a call or known about it.â
Vaccination has been a talking point in NBA circles throughout the season. Commissioner Adam Silver has consistently stated the league will not jump the line to obtain doses. Hall of Fame forward Charles Barkley's claim the players should be vaccinated because they pay higher taxes was met with backlash. Yet, Lasry managed to obtain a vaccine.
The Bucks SVP might be gearing up for a run at political office. Lasry was host committee chair for the 2020 Democratic National Convention and is grappling with a possible run for one of the state Senate seats in 2022.
Although Evers has advocated for the usage of available doses and there is a pregnancy involved, the optics of a billionaire's son getting the COVID-19 vaccine well ahead of schedule are not great.
