NBA fans who tuned in to watch the final minutes of Monday night' game between the Charlotte Hornets and Milwaukee Bucks witnessed a sloppy and frenzied 43-second span that included two turnovers and four missed shots.
The chaos began with a Kemba Walker turnover near the 3-point line when his pass was deflected by the Bucks' Eric Bledsoe:
With the Bucks down four with only one minute to play, Bledsoe quickly sprinted the floor after Pat Connaughton fed him the ball, and dropped the ball off to Connaughton in the lane, where the forward was all by himself about six inches from the rim.
Instead of dunking the ball, Connaughton inexplicably attempted to lay it in and somehow missed the point-blank shot. He grabbed his own rebound and whipped the ball to Malcolm Brogdon, who found an open Khris Middleton in the left corner.
Article Continues BelowThe career 39 percent 3-point shooter missed badly, and Walker grabbed the board and passed ahead to Tony Parker. The Hornets looked like they had escaped the situation, but Parker lost his dribble when pressured by Brogdon and Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Greek Freak recovered, Eurostepped into the paint, and found Middleton for yet another 3. Middleton missed another good look, and Antetokounmpo wasn't able to convert a contested put-back dunk.
Walker was able to snag his second defensive rebound in 15 seconds, and he was fouled to end the mess of a sequence.
The Bucks would eventually fall by a final score of 110-107, sustaining their sixth loss of the season. Even after the loss, Milwaukee still retained the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.
Neither of these teams will look back fondly at the final minute of this game, and both will attempt to avoid this late-game sloppiness, no matter how entertaining it was for NBA viewers.
