The NBA community has come together to show its support for the family and friends of Daunte Wright. According to a report, the Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks are among the teams that will be donating a special set of warm-up jerseys in order to raise fund for Wright.
According to TMZ Sports, the aforementioned teams will join the effort spearheaded by the Minnesota Timberwolves:
Players from the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx — along with the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat all wore special warm-up shirts this week with the message “With Liberty and Justice FOR ALL” in the days after Wright was killed by a police officer in Minnesota.
Daunte Wright, 20, was shot and killed on April 11 following a routine traffic stop. A Brooklyn Center, Minnesota police officer inadvertently shot the young man with her firearm instead of her taser.
Several NBA players have already worn the shirts during warm-ups. It is also being reported that some players will sign the shirts which will then be auctioned off at a starting bid of $200. All proceeds of the drive will be donated to The Daunte Wright Memorial Fund, which aims to support the family of Wright.
NBA superstar Kevin Durant was one of the more prominent stars whose pre-game worn shirt was sent to the auction block. His shirt received bids of up to $500 in the opening minutes, and we're all hoping it increases further before the auction ends on Friday night.
