During the Minnesota Timberwolves‘ introductory press conference for recently-acquired Jimmy Butler, he gave his phone number out for his critics to call him personally.

However, it appears someone with a nearly identical phone number has been receiving numerous calls directly because of what Butler did last week, according to Charles Curtis of USA TODAY Sports.

Michael Byrne of Evanston, IL told NBC 5 in Chicago that he's been getting tons of calls and texts because his phone number is one digit off the one Butler shouted out:

“At first I heard my phone going off a bunch. When I checked it, I already had 37 missed calls,” he says. “I got calls from Arkansas, Florida, New York City, and all over the country. I got voice mails and text messages all saying how much they supported me.

Byrne also added that he has received more than 100 voicemails and 150 text messages since Butler decided to share his phone number to the public. To top it all off, he doesn't even know who the 27-year-old is since he doesn't follow sports.

Butler's decision to give out his number was quite a bold move to do, but it has affected another person's life entirely. It's something that Byrne is probably going to have to deal with until he makes the choice to change his number altogether.
