Daunte Wright was shot and killed after being pulled over by police in Brooklyn Center, a suburb of Minneapolis.

The Brooklyn Center police later released the body camera footage that appeared to suggest the officer who shot Wright, Kim Potter, meant to use her taser. It was announced Tuesday both Potter and Police Chief Tim Gannon would be resigning.
Wright's shooting comes in the midst of the Derek Chauvin murder trial for the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis last summer. Protestors flooded the streets throughout the state and the entire country Monday night. The protest outside the Brooklyn Center police department resulted in 40 arrests, per NPR:
Demonstrators were met with lines of police officers in riot gear and nightsticks. Police declared an unlawful assembly at nightfall, eventually turning to flash-bang grenades, tear gas and foam rounds to clear the crowd. MPR News also reported damage and looting at a strip mall across the street from the police station. About 40 people were arrested, authorities said, many of whom were cited with misdemeanor curfew violations.
A number of NBA stars commented on the injustice in Wright's death on Monday, much as they used their platforms to call for greater equity this past summer.
The Timberwolves and Nets issued a unified statement of their own on Tuesday.
