The Minnesota Timberwolves have been quite underwhelming as they are continuing on their slow start in the early stages of the season. Many of their players couldn't find their rhythm on the floor as well, including veteran point guard Ricky Rubio who was merely shooting 20% from three and 35% from the field heading to Sunday's matchup.
He finally broke out against the Toronto Raptors where he notched 16 points on four-of-eight shots from beyond the arc along with five assists. The Spaniard's efforts didn't go to waste as the Timberwolves carved out a tight 116-112 victory to grab their seventh victory of the season.
After the game, Rubio put the spotlight on rookie Anthony Edwards who was responsible for uplifting his spirit in recent weeks, via Dane Moore.
After tonight's game, arguably Ricky Rubio's best of the season, Rubio spoke postgame about how his "spirit" was really down at the beginning of the season.
He credited one teammate for the shift in his spirit over the past few weeks… Anthony Edwards.

The 2020 top overall pick responded to Rubio's claims and bared that he is just serving his role as an energizer for the team. He believes that he can effectuate the team's spirits and confidence which will ultimately lead to better performances on the court sooner than later.
“I feel like it's my job to keep the spirit around because everybody's older than me and I feel like I'm the life of the team,” Edwards said via Star Tribune. “I come into practice happy, loud every day because I'm young. I got so much energy.”
“I try to give everybody as much confidence as I can,” he added. “If I believe in you so much, you won't want to let me down or let the team down.”
Edwards brings the same passion and energy to the court as he has already emerged as a key piece for the Timberwolves in his first campaign in the league. He is currently averaging 14.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 27 games played to throw his name as one of the frontrunners for this year's Rookie of the Year award.
The Timberwolves continue to struggle with a 7-20 record to start the season but Anthony Edwards definitely serves as a bright spot for the team both on and off the court moving forward.
