Karl-Anthony Towns is in favor of teammate Andrew Wiggins' five-year, $148 million contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves, one that has been on the line for the majority of the summer as he switched agencies in hopes to net his desired deal.

“He deserves every dime,” Towns said, according to Kyle Ratke of NBA.com. “He’s one heck of a player. We’re blessed to have him, especially for the long term now. It told him before that I’m really happy he signed it and I’m really happy he’s going to be here long term. I truly believe he deserves every dime. He works tremendously hard. He’s a once in a generational talent… We’re lucky to have him.”

Wiggins has improved his scoring average every season after winning Rookie of the Year in 2014-15, now becoming a 23.6 point per game threat and improving his three-point prowess after coming into the league as a reluctant distance shooter.

The rest of his teammates were also glad the extension got done before the Oct. 16 deadline, which will keep him as a core part of this group going forward.

“Really happy for him,” point guard Tyus Jones said. “I think everyone was kind of waiting on that, so very happy for him.”

Even new addition Jamal Crawford noted how big of a centerpiece he is in this Timberwolves equation.

“He’s such a big piece,” Crawford said. “I think he’ll sleep well tonight.”

Wiggins and company will now boast a bolstered roster with the proper weapons to challenge elite teams in the Western Conference, including swingman Jimmy Butler, who is likely to take his spot at small forward as he slides to the shooting guard role this season.
