Contrary to his professional geographical affiliations, Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns is not a Minnesota Vikings fan. In fact, he is a lifelong supporter of the team that ended the Vikings’ Super Bowl title dreams in the NFC Championship Game, the Philadelphia Eagles. So when the Eagles got the job done by beating the New England Patriots on Sunday 41-33 in Super Bowl LII, Towns was understandably overflowing with emotions. Like the game itself, Towns rode a rollercoaster of feelings while watching the game unfold live at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The Eagles rode the performance of quarterback Nick Foles on their way to winning Philly’s first-ever Vince Lombardi trophy. Foles passed for 373 yards on 28-of-43 completions with three touchdowns and an interception. Winning the Super Bowl is a dramatic accomplishment on its own, but what made the victory even sweeter is the fact that the Eagles won it all despite having a backup quarterback in Foles under center in the playoffs while also being underdogs in each of their games in this postseason.
Back to Towns, the Eagles’ win could also serve as a huge inspiration for the seven-foot center in helping his team’s goal of winning Minnesota’s first-ever NBA title.
Karl-Anthony Towns and the Timberwolves are on a mini two-game win streak, which they will look to extend this Thursday on the road against LeBron James and the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers.
