NBA fans love buying the jerseys of their favorite players and wearing them around in public. It shows their ultimate fandom.

But if that player gets traded, fans have a problem. Now they have a jersey of a player that they like, but they play for another team. But fans can't return the jersey because they have already worn it, and they can't just turn around and buy another one because they are a bit pricey.

But the company Fanatics hopes to change that. The company is incorporating a policy that if a player gets traded, and a fan has bought that jersey within the last three months, the fan can “exchange for either the new jersey of their favorite player or to get a different jersey of a player on their team, if the player whose jersey they recently bought gets traded,” per Darren Rovell of ESPN.

Here's how the program works: If a fan buys a jersey on the site within three months of a player leaving that team, the fan has two weeks to make an exchange.

“We found out that 25 percent of fans were worried that the jerseys they purchase will become obsolete,” said Chris Orton, co-president of Fanatics' direct-to-consumer business. “So by doing this, this is a major pain point we are solving.”

The website goes a step further if the jersey is purchased with an American Express card. In that case, fans can change their jersey if their player leaves within 12 months of the purchase of the jersey.

This is a great development for fans who love to buy jerseys but are afraid that their favorite player is on the trade block. This should've been thought of sooner, but better late than never.
