Those two players have been balling all year.
Embiid has already exceeded his number of games played compared to all of last season, and recently said he hopes to play in back-to-back games by the end of January.
Article Continues BelowLillard, to his credit, has recently put himself in the same conversation as Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors in terms of 3-pointers made in the first six years of a career.
These two players are centerpieces of their teams, which hope to make the playoffs. But while winning an award is certainly an achievement, it's nothing compared to what these two want at the end of the season: a championship.
To get closer to that goal, Embiid and Lillard's respective teams need them continue playing at the level they have for week 14. But just one week won't be enough. They'll have to put up big numbers like that for the reason of the season.
But if this trend continues for both players, they are likely to get into the Player of the Month discussion. Those awards mean more because sustaining that kind of production over a longer period of time is more indicative of the type of season they are having.
