Anthony Davis is expected to decline his $28,751,775 player option for the 2020-21 season, giving him a big chance to add more to his $121,617,548 NBA career earnings after the 2019-20 campaign.
After getting drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans out of Kentucky with the No. 1 overall pick in 2012, Davis signed a $10.5 million rookie deal. He averaged 13.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks during his rookie season while making $5,144,280.
In his second year in the league, AD made $5,375,760. He finished out his rookie contract with the Pelicans by earning $5,607,240 in Year 3 and $7,070,730 in Year 4.
By his fifth year in the NBA, Davis' lucrative five-year, $127.2 million maximum rookie-scale extension kicked in. The Chicago native made $22,116,750 during the 2016-17 season while averaging superb numbers of 28.0 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks.
During the 2017-18 campaign, Davis earned $23,775,506 and finally won his first playoff series. The Pelicans swept the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the 2018 postseason. AD got his revenge on Blazers point guard Damian Lillard, who won the Rookie of the Year Award over him.

Even though Anthony Davis is set to decline his 2020-21 player option with the Lakers and enter unrestricted free agency, he is expected to sign a long-term extension with Los Angeles. After all, Davis loves playing for the Lakers and having LeBron James as a teammate.
