Carmelo Anthony is enjoying the fruits of victory. Prior to the Olympics, Anthony spoke about his desire to feel what it's like to win again. Not surprisingly, he's doing so in a big way with Team USA.

Despite a slow start against Venezuela, the Americans ending up running away with a dominant 113-69 victory. They beat China 119-62 in their first game in Rio.

As their highly anticipated matchup with Australia approaches, Melo isn't too worried. Instead, he's focused on learning about his teammates.

From ESPN's Marc Stein:

“I like it. I enjoy learning about different players' personalities, not just as basketball players, but as people. I feel like I'm that bridge, that gap, between the veterans and the young guys.

If past Team USA iterations were defined by the all-time talent they possessed with the likes of LeBron James and Kobe Bryant, this team is known for its personality. Every guy on the roster brings something unique to the table, and it's clear that they're enjoying their time together.

One bond that Carmelo forged has stood above the rest so far, and it's at least somewhat surprising.

More from Stein:

“Me and Draymond [Green] instantly clicked,” Anthony said, “because it's like we just sit back and we just talk trash all day.”

Given the hits that Draymond's image has taken with the assault charges and the crude picture posted on his snapchat, it must be nice to have a veteran like Anthony there to have his back. That's what teammates do.

Their constant jawing and trash talk has extended to the rest of the team as well:

The first day we put together a group text and it's like non-stop trash-talking. I know people wish they could see these group texts, these team chats.”
