The guard play of the Boston Celtics has been a big key as to why the team has risen to become one of the league’s elites. Their great depth at the position has been displayed well these past few days.

With the Celtics' number one source of offense in Kyrie Irving out with a right quad contusion, the next man on the list, Terry Rozier, who’s mostly there as a reliever or energy guy off-the-bench, has given two consecutive big performances.

After an impressive triple-double versus the New York Knicks in his first career start (something which James Harden and Russell Westbrook failed to do in theirs, which isn't really much of a big deal since both stars were still rookies while Rozier has had plenty of NBA run prior to his first start) days ago, where he notched 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, Rozier followed it up by recording career-bests of 31 points and six made 3-pointers on Friday night against the Atlanta Hawks.

The Celtics had dominating wins in those contests, and Rozier was arguably the best player in both games. Through his leadership, they held the Knicks to eight points in the final frame and routed them by 30, and then piled up 41 third-quarter points on the Hawks en route to an easy win.

The third-year guard may have more chances to show-off what he can do, as Irving is still not cleared to play as of this writing.

The Celtics will return to action Sunday, where they will welcome the visiting Portland Trail Blazers. Rozier and the rest of the team have their work cut out for them, as the Blazers are seventh in points allowed and sixth in Basketball-Reference.com's defensive ratings. It's far better than what the two previous opponents brought to the table.
