Is the so-called “Paul Pierce Curse” finally over? With the Toronto Raptors' emphatic victory in the 2019 NBA Finals, Paul Pierce certainly thinks so.

Paul reminded fans about his pre-NBA Finals predictions on Twitter on June 13. “The Truth” nailed it: he predicted the Raptors will win in six games. Plus, he also predicted Kawhi Leonard will win 2019 NBA Finals MVP honors.

Pierce received tons of flak from fans after he incorrectly predicted some of the earlier playoff series. For instance, he said the second-round series between the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks was “over” after the former won Game 1 on the road. The Bucks won the next four games to end the Celtics' season.

Pierce then said, “The Bucks got this” after Milwaukee won the first two games against the Raptors in the Eastern Conference Finals. Toronto won the next four games to advance to the 2019 NBA Finals.

At this point, fans got the impression the exact opposite scenario will unfold every time Pierce made a prediction. Hence, the “Paul Pierce Curse.”

If you also recall, Raptors fans chanted, “Paul Pierce sucks!” in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors. Pierce remained undaunted, taunting fans by cupping his hands against his ears as if to say, “Shout louder!”

Well, the Raptors are the 2019 NBA champions. They won their first title in their 25-year franchise history. Chalk this one up as a victory for “The Truth” as well – he has finally shut up the naysayers.
