NBA icon and Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan took a strong position during the Board of Governors call on Thursday.

According to Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report, Jordan is speaking to his fellow owners not just as a six-time champion and arguably the best basketball player of all time, but as a “black man” who is frustrated by seeing his fellow brothers getting killed by the police.

“Sources say Michael Jordan has taken a strong position to help owners see different point of views,” Rooks reported.

“On today's call – he said he isn't just speaking as an owner, or even a player…he's speaking as a black man.”

The tragic Jacob Blake shooting has rocked the NBA world. Blake was shot seven times in front of his children in Wisconsin. He's now paralyzed from the waist down despite being unarmed and not committing a crime.

Michael Jordan's voice holds a lot of weight in these Board of Governors calls. The Chicago Bulls legend has been speaking with NBPA President Chris Paul and Houston Rockets superstar point guard Russell Westbrook and advising them on how to proceed with the 2020 playoffs.

At one point, it appeared the 2020 playoffs were going to be canceled altogether. However, things may have changed after Thursday's call. There likely won't be any games on Friday, but we could see playoff basketball return on Saturday.

The NBA first has to play the games that were supposed to take place on Wednesday. That would be the Milwaukee Bucks-Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets-Oklahoma City Thunder, and Los Angeles Lakers-Portland Trail Blazers all playing.
