New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis remains hopeful that his team can still remain in a very tough race to the Western Conference playoffs after the team lost a key cog in their lineup in DeMarcus Cousins.
Cousins suffered a torn Achilles tendon last week ending his season for good and leaving Anthony Davis as the sole frontcourt star to lead the team forward, currently hanging onto seventh place despite losing their last two games.

But we have to keep going,” said Davis, according to NBA.com's Jim Eichenhofer. “The organization went out right away to do something about it, knowing the position we're in, (in seventh in West). We want to make sure we don’t drop, that we keep progressing.”
The Pelicans recently added some help, trading for marksman forward Nikola Mirotic from the Chicago Bulls — a player that is having his best season shooting the ball and should bring the Pels an added punch and some much-needed outside shooting with Cousins out of the lineup.
“He can score the ball. He can defend. He’s going to help us space the floor, because he can really shoot it,” said Davis of Mirotic. “I’m excited to have him here.”
Mirotic won't have the same double-double impact the Cousins has had all season long, but it'll be up to both Mirotic, Davis, as well as Jrue Holiday to take their game to the next level and make up for the void that Cousins' absence has created in the Big Easy.
