Freshly hired New Orleans Pelicans Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin has great for the franchise moving forward, including keeping its disgruntled star, Anthony Davis. Griffin said he recently spoke to Davis' agent, Rich Paul, to discuss the future of the All-Star forward.

Davis' frustration with the Pelicans seemed to have reached its limit midway this season when he publicly requested a trade from the franchise. Although no deal materialized, New Orleans is still expected to listen to offers this summer.

Griffin wants to prevent that from happening. He wants to build a winning team in New Orleans, and he's hoping that Davis will be a part of it. The former Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager has already proven that he is capable of constructing a championship contender, and he wants to continue that tradition with the Pelicans.

It is unclear if Paul showed any interest in Griffin's plans, but he might take them into consideration. One of Paul's most prominent clients, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, built a great relationship with Griffin back in Cleveland, so Paul might advise Davis to stay for at least one more season to see if the team will be more competitive.
